Lakewood Four: Actual Heroes?

Today, on the day when the Seattle area is celebrating the "Lakewood Four" (four police officers shot at a coffee shop), I ask the question: were they really heroes?

I am not denying that they were great people. They were. They left behind a total of twelve kids and families. I'm sure they were all very nice and good to their pets, etc. But to call them "heroes"... why? What did they do to become heroes? Yes yes yes, I understand they were in the police... but what does that really mean?

The truth is, they were just average joes. Sure, they were "amazing", "inspirational", "brilliant". Fine, whatever. But heroes... why? Let thy voice be heard!

  1. This sounds like the 'fallen heroes' deal in Pittsburgh. Three police officers were shot and killed. It's sad that anyone was shot and killed, but I find it sick that the world seems to stop just because these three were cops. People are murdered all the time, but no one gives a shit.
